Opening Gala Dinner and Fundraising Auction – SOLD OUT

We commence celebrations of the tenth anniversary of August Art Month at Welgemeend with an elegant gala dinner catered by Jacques Erasmus, owner of the renowned Cape Town restaurant Hemelhuijs. This ticketed event takes place on Wednesday, 2 August 2023 from 6.30pm.
Come and enjoy stimulating conversations about life and art, together with delicious food. The menu for this event has been carefully designed by Jacques to highlight themes from the exhibition Kaapse Oomblikke | Cape Moments. Each course is accompanied by wine from the award-winning Delaire Graff Wine Estate.
Frank Kilbourn, art collector and curator of Kaapse Oomblikke | Cape Moments, together with Wilhelm van Rensburg, senior art specialist at auction house Strauss & Co, will introduce guests to artworks in the exhibition. The selection for the exhibition ranges from old South African masters to contemporary artists, with some exciting twists in the tale.
The gala dinner is followed by an auction of bespoke items. Proceeds from this auction will go towards the restoration and conservation of Welgemeend and the Boerneef Art Collection.
