Irma & the Wildensteins: African Impressionism in Post-War Europe by Strauss & Co Senior Art Specialist Matthew Partridge
Matthew Partridge will discuss Irma Stern’s career defining exhibition Peintures D’Afrique in 1947 at the Wildenstein Gallery in Paris. Here he will consider the context of the prolific artistic production behind Sterns travels to both the Congo and Zanzibar during the interwar years and discuss the impact of her subsequent exhibitions in post-war Europe.
Limited ‘in person’ tickets are sold at R100 per person. The ticket price includes access to this year’s 60/360 August Art Month exhibition, a glass of wine and light refreshments.
