
The Welgemeend August Art Month will not be complete without a performance from our award-winning pianists, Gerhard Joubert.
On Sunday, 25 August 2024 Gerhard will bring to life masterpieces by Fauré, Liszt and Chopin.
Arrival drinks and light refreshments will be served from 12:00. The performance will start at 13:00 and consist of two thirty-minute recitals with a short break in between.
The program will include the followings works:
- Variations in F minor, Hob. XVII:6 – J. Haydn (1732-1809)
- Barcarolle No. 4 in A flat major, Op. 44 – G. Fauré (1845-1924)
- Il penseroso from Années de pèlerinage II – F. Liszt (1811-86) Consolation No. 3
- Liebeslied (Widmung) from Myrthen – Schumann-Liszt
- Nocturne No. 2 in B major, Op. 33 No. 2 – G. Fauré
- Waltz in E flat major, Op. 18 – F. Chopin (1810-49)
- Ballade No.1 in G minor, Op. 23
Gerhard graduated in 2023 as a BMus performance student of Professor Francois du Toit at the University of Cape Town. He has performed on various stages and has received first prize awards in multiple competitions. Gerhard matriculated at Jan van Riebeeck High School and loves practising on the Bösendorfer Grand piano in Welgemeend.
One of South Africa’s most interesting young concert pianists, Gerhard Joubert, presented a farewell recital at Welgemeend on 22 May 2024, before heading for Germany to further his studies abroad. We look forward to welcoming him back at Welgemeend after his extended travels abroad on 25 August.
